Outdated Luxembourgish Franc (LUF)

Withdrawn Currency

The Luxembourgish Franc (LUF) served as Luxembourg’s national currency until the country adopted the euro in 2002.

Over many decades, several series of Franc banknotes were issued, often produced in cooperation with Belgium due to the long‑standing monetary union between the two countries.

These notes featured portraits of the Grand Dukes and Duchesses of Luxembourg, national emblems, and designs reflecting the country’s cultural identity and European heritage.

As Luxembourg transitioned to the euro, all Franc notes were officially withdrawn from circulation.

Many still remain in private hands, typically found in stored belongings, travel documents, or family estates.

At Thecurrencycounter.co.uk, we accept a wide range of withdrawn Luxembourgish Franc notes, including early paper issues, joint‑design notes from the monetary union period, and denominations no longer seen in circulation.

If your specific note isn’t listed on our site, you’re welcome to get in touch — we may still be able to help.
