Outdated Latvian Lats (LVL)

Withdrawn Currency

The Latvian Lats (LVL) served as Latvia’s national currency until the country adopted the euro in 2014.

Over its lifetime, several series of Lats banknotes were issued, featuring Latvian cultural figures, national symbols, and imagery reflecting the country’s landscapes, heritage, and economic development.

Later issues showcased modern design elements and improved security features, while earlier notes carried traditional layouts typical of late‑20th‑century European banknote printing.

All Lats notes were officially withdrawn from circulation following the euro transition, but many remain in private hands, often found in stored belongings, travel documents, or family estates.

At Thecurrencycounter.co.uk, we accept a wide range of withdrawn Latvian Lats notes, including early paper issues, transitional designs, and denominations no longer seen in circulation.

If your specific note isn’t listed on our site, you’re welcome to get in touch — we may still be able to help.
